VA APCO/VA NENA Joint Legislative Committee

The Virginia Chapters of APCO and NENA are seeking volunteers to serve on our Joint Legislative Committee. The Legislative Committee plays a vital role in shaping the future of public safety communications in Virginia. By serving, you will:

  • Stay informed about legislative issues directly affecting our profession.

  • Have a voice in discussions influencing policy and decision-making at the state level.

  • Collaborate and network with peers and leaders across the Commonwealth.

  • Contribute to advancing the mission of APCO/NENA and strengthening the role of 9-1-1 in public safety.

If you are interested in this committee, please contact Preston Main at prmain@hanovercounty.gov.

Social Media Crew

Virginia APCO is looking for creative minds to join our social media crew! If you’re into designing graphics, writing captions, or just bringing ideas to life, we’d love to have you on board.

If you are interested in assisting, please contact Corey Overstreet at coverstr@vbgov.com.

Emerging Leaders Committee

Are you passionate about helping new 9-1-1 professionals grow and thrive? Virginia APCO is looking for a Chair for the Emerging Leaders Committee, and this could be your chance to make an impact.

The committee was designed for individuals with 10 years or less experience in the 9-1-1 industry — regardless of age — and focuses on creating a space for connection, purpose, and guidance. Members help plan social events, lead educational sessions, and spotlight future leaders within our profession.

If you’re ready to lead, inspire, and connect with others who share your passion for public safety communications, let’s talk! Reach out to Preston Main at prmain@hanovercounty.gov.
