The Virginia Chapter of APCO is proud to offer various scholarship opportunities to it's member. Each year, the chapter supports professional growth through conference attendance, instructional opportunities, and development programs. Scholarship categories and requirements are listed below.

Scholarship Categories
VA APCO/NENA Fall Conference Scholarship
This scholarship covers the registration fee, lodging (including parking) for the VA APCO/NENA Fall Conference.
Selection Criteria:

The applicant must be a first-time attendee of the Virginia APCO/NENA Fall Conference.

The recipient must not have received any Virginia APCO scholarship within the past 3 years.

A letter of support from the applicant's Training Manager or ECC Director is required.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Spring NENA/APCO Conference and will be used at that calendar year's Fall Conference.
VA APCO Instructional Scholarship
This scholarship is available for any APCO Institute course (excluding RPL or CPE), whether attended in person, virtually, or online. The average cost of classes ranges from $250 to $550, depending on the course chosen.
Selection Criteria:

The recipient must not have received any Virginia APCO scholarship within the past 3 years.

A letter of support from the applicant's Training Manager or ECC Director is required.

The scholarship must be used within the calendar year in which it is awarded for.

The recipient's agency must agree to repay scholarship funds if the recipient does not successfully complete the course or leaves the agency before completion, unless the recipient transfer to another agency within the Virginia APCO chapter.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the VA APCO/NENA Fall Conference and the scholarship will be valid for the calendar year following the Fall Conference.
VA APCO Professional Development Scholarship
This scholarship is available for any APCO RPL or CPE course.
Selection Criteria:

The recipient must not have received any Virginia APCO scholarship within the past 3 years.

A letter of support from the applicant's Training Manager or ECC Director is required.

The scholarship must be used within the calendar year in which it is awarded for.

For the CPE program, the scholarship will be valid for the next 2 CPE selection cycles.

The recipient's agency must agree to repay scholarship funds if the recipient does not successfully complete the course or leaves the agency before completion, unless the recipient transfer to another agency within the Virginia APCO chapter.
Scholarship recipients will be announced at the VA APCO/NENA Fall Conference and the scholarship will be valid for the calendar year following the Fall Conference.
Application Deadlines & Submission Information
Scholarships are valid from January 1 to December 31 of the calendar year following the conference at which they are awarded. Example: A scholarship awarded at the Fall 2025 conference will be valid from January 1 to December 31, 2026.
Applications for the Fall Conference Scholarship open annually on January 1 and close on March 15. Recipients are announced at the Spring Conference held in May.
Applications for all other scholarship categories open annually on April 1 and close on September 1. Recipients are announced at the Fall Conference, held in October.
