Who We Are
The Virginia Chapter of the Associations of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) is a member-driven organization of public safety communications professionals.
We provide leadership, promote professional development, and support the advancement of technologies that benefit those who rely on 9-1-1 and emergency services. Our chapter champions industry-leading standards, training, and recognition of public safety communications as a true profession.

Our chapter works closely with the Virginia Chapter of NENA and the Virginia Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security to promote growth and innovation in our field.
Our History
Founded in 1959, Virginia APCO has grown from a small group of committed professionals into a thriving chapter that helps shape the future of public safety communications.
From adopting our original Constitution in 1960 to launching statewide conferences and educational programs, our chapter has a proud legacy of leadership and service.

Join Us
Membership in the Virginia chapter is automatic with APCO International membership and is based on your place of employment or residence.
Founded in 1935, APCO International is the world’s oldest and largest organization of public safety communications professionals.
APCO’s 40,000+ membership includes those who manage, operate, build and support public safety communications systems for law enforcement, fire, emergency medical and other public safety agencies. The association supports its members – and the general public – by providing industry expertise, professional development, technical assistance, advocacy and outreach.
