The Virginia Chapter of APCO maintains a list server as a means of communicating with its members. Subscribers may send messages to all other subscribed Chapter members via the list server. Subscribers are sent the following message upon initial sign-up. Instructions for new subscribers appear near the end of the message. Be sure to keep your e-mail address up-to-date, both on the list server and with APCO International.
You have been subscribed to the Virginia APCO ListServ
(VA-APCO), a
distribution list and notification forum for the Virginia Chapter of the
Association of Public Safety Communications Officials - International, Inc.
This list has been established to provide a means for general
communication of messages to Chapter members. The initial subscriptions
include those e-mail addresses listed by APCO International for its
members, supplemented by additional addresses available to the Chapter.
Please save this message for future reference, especially if this is the
first time you are subscribing to an electronic mailing list. If you ever
need to leave the list, you will find the necessary instructions below.
To send a message to all the people currently subscribed to the list, just
send mail to VA-APCO@ESVA.NET. This
is called "sending mail to the list,"
because you send mail to a single address and LISTSERV makes copies for all
the people who have subscribed. This address <VA-APCO@ESVA.NET> is also
called the list address. Remember that your messages to this list are
sent
to everyone on the list; if you want only limited recipients, you should
use the recipients' individual e-mail address(es) or use a distribution
list or nickname list set up through your e-mail program to send such
messages to one or more recipients. (At the present time, replying
to the
list will return your message only to the sender... a new message is
required to send your message to the entire list.)
You must never try to send any command (subscribe, sign off, etc.) to that
address, as it would be distributed to all the people who have subscribed.
All commands must be sent to the LISTSERV address <LISTSERV@ESVA.NET>.
You may leave the list at any time by sending a "SIGNOFF VA-APCO"
command
to LISTSERV@ESVA.NET.
If you know of additional Chapter members who would like to join the list
or if you need to subscribe an additional e-mail address, subscribe by
sending an e-mail message to <LISTSERV@ESVA.NET>.
No subject required. In
the body of the message include:
SUBSCRIBE VA-APCO Firstname Lastname
Alternatively, requests to join may be made directly to the list
administrator, Scott Chandler <schandler@esva911.org>.

This list is private and confidential. It is intended for the private use
of Chapter members. You should not publicly release the contents of

for you to share
information pertinent to the Chapter operations with other members of the
Chapter who do not have access to e-mail.
Commercial advertising by vendors is prohibited. Members may, however,
advertise surplus equipment and/or discuss commercial products of benefit
to operations.
