The
Charlottesville-UVA-Albemarle County Emergency
Communications Center is accepting applications for the position of Emergency
Management Coordinator. This position is an administrative position that is
responsible for professional and technical administrative work relating to the
development and maintenance of the Regional Emergency Operations Plan for the
County of Albemarle, University of Virginia and the City of Charlottesville.
Responsibilities include coordination of disaster preparedness, emergency
operations center management, training and development of departments and
volunteer organizations and citizens from those jurisdictions which are
responsible for responding to natural or man-made emergencies; coordinates
recovery and mitigation for citizens and local governments due to hazardous
material incidents, man-made and natural disasters.
Hiring Salary Range: $52,442 - $68,174/ Annually,
depending on experience and qualifications
Full Salary Range: $52,442 -
$83,906/ Annually

We are currently recruiting for highly responsible,
technical, dispatching positions in our Emergency Communications Center.
You will receive 911 calls, evaluate the situations reported, and use
sophisticated computer aided dispatch systems to coordinate the response of
Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service units to help save lives, protect
property and assist the public.
Specific duties:
The ability to make quick,
independent decisions, to handle simultaneous tasks under pressure, to learn
the geography and street systems of Arlington County, to speak distinctly on
the telephone and radio and be able to accurately enter orally supplied
information into a computer are important in this job.
This is an entry level position in Arlington's Emergency Communications Center.
The employee will begin training as a calltaker and
teletype operator. Individuals new to emergency communications work are
expected to successfully complete initial training in eighteen months.
Individuals with 911 dispatch experience are strongly encouraged to apply and,
if hired, are likely to proceed through the initial training period at an
accelerated pace. Depending on operational needs, an employee may be
required to train to the ECT III level.
